One Thing

It would be wonderful and uncomplicated to be able to think, to feel one thing about a given person, place, idea or thing.

In actual fact though, when someone wants to know "What's life all about?" anyone who says it's all (and really and only) about one thing, shows his or her lack of understanding.  The same thing with "How do you feel about this person?" and all those issues like abortion, capital punishment, war and so on.  Saying "it's wrong" or "it's up to the individual" doesn't even begin to cover everything that could and should be thought and felt about the matter.  Anyone who wants to end the discussion is displaying, for the whole world to see, a fear, a discomfort, a strong feeling of being challenged by the very idea of letting people think and feel a huge number of conflicted and conflicting things about anything that is important.

Life's not really about one thing.  Neither is love.  Neither is God.  Neither is sex.  Neither is celebration.  Neither is family, justice, survival, success, fairness, virtue or anything else of any value whatsoever.
